Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Job Description

A CRNA is a registered nurse (RN) who has received additional education and training in anesthesia care.

CRNAs perform anesthesia and related procedures in operating rooms or clinics and may provide anesthesia care during inpatient hospital stays.

CRNAs also work outside of healthcare facilities.

They may work in physicians’ offices, specialty clinics, or in ambulatory surgery centers.

CRNAs are employed in all types of healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, urgent care centers, government institutions, and the military.

CRNAs are most often employed at hospitals, where they work as part of the anesthesia team.

Job Brief:

We are looking for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) who is interested in working with us. The ideal candidate would have experience in working with patients who are undergoing surgery.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Duties:

• Perform anesthetics; administer drugs to patients for pain relief.
• Evaluate patient prior to administering anesthesia.
• Liaise with other members of the healthcare team such as MDs, nurses, and other healthcare workers.
• Supervise and assist other CRNAs.
• Oversee patients’ pain management and recovery.
• Inform patients of post surgical and pain management procedures.
• Assist in patient surgical preparation.
• Perform routine and appropriate laboratory tests.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative examinations.
• Provide support to other healthcare team.
• Advise patients on medication type and dosage.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Responsibilities:

• Perform general, regional, and general anesthesia, including epidurals, spinals, and nerve blocks.
• Perform, document, and manage post-operative care.
• Evaluate patients’ health and history to determine anesthesia and pain management needs.
• Prescribe medications as appropriate, and monitor their effectiveness.
• Research, analyze, and consult with patients and other stakeholders on medical issues.
• Provide anesthesia care, including airway management, during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Perform and interpret cardiac catheterizations, ultrasounds, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Perform and interpret electrocardiography, pulmonary function tests, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Perform and interpret EKGs, fetal monitoring, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Perform and interpret nuclear cardiology procedures, including stress testing.
• Perform and interpret computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography.
• Perform and interpret magnetic resonance imaging, computerized.

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
• Registered nurse (RN) license.
• Certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) license.
• Current, valid CPR certification.
• Current, valid MO license.
• Current, valid DEA.
