Daycare Worker Job Description

A daycare worker is a person employed by a daycare center to care for the children who are enrolled in the daycare center.

Daycare workers care for children during the day while they are at the daycare center.

They monitor children’s behavior, provide toys, read stories, and play games with children.

They prepare meals and assist with clean-up.

Daycare workers work with children in a variety of settings, such as child care centers and homes.

Most daycare workers have a college degree in child development or early childhood education.

Daycare Worker Duties:

Daycare Worker Responsibilities:

• Assist with planning and organizing activities for children such as arts and crafts, games or educational activities
• Monitor, feed, bathe, and dress children, and assist with diapering
• Provide caregivers with information and feedback regarding children’s activities
• Take children to and from activities, field trips, and appointments
• Clean toys and play areas
• Handle emergency situations
• Provide proper supervision for the children
• Train and supervise volunteers

Requirements And Skills:

• Graduate of a certified daycare program (3+ years experience preferred)
• Ability to multitask in different capacities
• High level of energy and enthusiasm for children
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability and willingness to work long and/or odd hours
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
