Framing Carpenter Job Description

A framing carpenter is a skilled carpenter who constructs wood members within a building’s supporting framework.

Framing carpenters both support the building’s structural elements, which transfers the building loads to the foundations, and work inside the walls themselves.

The framing carpenter may also perform specialized tasks such as trim carpentry, finish carpentry, and cabinetry work.

Framing carpenters are typically employed by general building contractors.

Due to the high risk of working on construction sites, framing carpenters typically undergo training and pass an exam prior to being hired.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Framing Carpenter to join our team and help us build the homes of our dreams. As a Framing Carpenter, you will be responsible for creating the framework of our homes using wood and other materials. You will work closely with our other Carpenters and Construction Workers to ensure that each home is built to our high standards. If you are a skilled and experienced Framing Carpenter, we would love to have you on our team.

Framing Carpenter Duties:

• Assist in developing framing construction estimating, schedules, and preliminary budgets
• Assist in developing pro forma budget sheets
• Perform assorted tasks as needed for framing construction
• Conduct independent pre-design field surveys
• Prepare preliminary construction layout for estimating
• Conduct operational pre-construction field surveys
• Perform assorted tasks as needed for framing construction
• Continue to grow knowledge of framing construction
• Proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring framing construction issues
• Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and other business partners
• Oversee framing construction department
• Continue to grow knowledge of framing construction

• Perform assorted tasks as needed for framing construction

Framing Carpenter Responsibilities:

• Install and fasten subfloors; install drywall and insulation; install and fasten exterior walls and roof trusses; finish interior walls
• Use a variety of tools, including nail guns, saws, and hammers
• Perform quality checks, ensuring that work meets standards and specifications
• Maintain a safe working environment

Requirements And Skills:

• 5+ years’ carpentry experience in a framing role
• Ability to follow blueprints and plans
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent craftsmanship
