Grocery Clerk Job Description

A grocery store clerk is a position found in grocery stores, grocers’ shops, and markets.

These clerks perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of a store manager.

Grocery store clerks often interact with customers, check stock, and restock shelves.

They also file bills of lading, perform cashiering duties, and redeem coupons.

Grocery store clerks may not work in refrigerated or frozen foods areas, and they may not stock bulk foods.

Grocery store clerks may also be required to work some nights, holidays, and weekends.

We’re looking for a Grocery Clerk to help us keep our shelves stocked and our customers happy. If you have a passion for food and customer service, we want you!

Grocery Clerk Duties:

• Maintain a positive working relationship with all customers
• Assist customers in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
• Make deliveries and pick-ups as needed

Grocery Clerk Responsibilities:

• Must have good communication skills
• Must have ability to memorize prices
• Must have ability to work in a team atmosphere
• Must have ability to work well with others

Requirements And Skills:

• Follow store policies and procedures, including loss prevention and customer service, and process customer transactions quickly and accurately
• Clean and maintain store, including stock and rotate shelves, stock bathrooms and supply areas, and sweep and mop
• Provide exceptional customer service, including greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to requests
• Assist with inventory and restocking
• Ensure safe, secure conditions for all store operations
• Assist with facility and facility maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and repairs
• Assist with administrative duties, including writing reports
• Help with store events
