Janitorial Supervisor Job Description

A janitor supervisor, also known as a custodial supervisor, is the individual responsible for managing and maintaining the facility where janitorial work is performed.

This person oversees the cleaning staff and the janitorial supplies used to keep the facility clean and orderly.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Janitorial Supervisor to oversee the cleaning staff and make sure that they are completing their tasks correctly. The Janitorial Supervisor will also be responsible for training new employees and creating work schedules.

Janitorial Supervisor Duties:

• Assist in the implementation of janitorial operations and maintenance programs
• Assist in the implementation of safety programs
• Support the other departments with your knowledge and expertise
• Organize equipment and supplies
• Maintain janitorial work areas
• Recommend new equipment, services, or products
• Develop growth, sales, and profitability goals

Janitorial Supervisor Responsibilities:

• Maintain clean, safe, and functional working environments, including cleaning restrooms and common areas, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, carpet cleaning, and minor repair work
• Practice safety protocols at all times
• Assist with inventory control, recycling efforts, and office supply management
• Assist with facility management activities including facilities inspections, contracts, and facility monitoring
• Be responsible for daily reporting, scheduling, scheduling, maintenance, and enforcement of all company policies and guidelines

Requirements And Skills:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years’ proven experience in a janitorial supervision role
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to multi-task and work independently
