Maintenance Technician Job Description

A maintenance technician is an engineer or technical expert that develops, maintains, implements, and repairs production, industrial, and service equipment.

Maintenance technicians typically are tasked with troubleshooting major engine or mechanical problems, finding and repairing leaks, diagnosing and fixing electrical problems, and designing updates or improvements to existing equipment.

Maintenance technicians typically work in environments ranging from labs to industrial plants.

They frequently work in areas with heavy amounts of heavy machinery, such as airplane engines, ship engines, or industrial machinery.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to provide upkeep for our facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing problems, performing preventative maintenance, and keeping records of maintenance activities.

Maintenance Technician Duties:

• Maintain and repair all equipment and machinery
• Maintain and repair buildings and grounds
• Paint, clean, and decorate buildings and grounds
• Maintain landscaping and lawns
• Maintain and repair all equipment, vehicles, and machinery
• Maintain HVAC systems
• Maintain plumbing, electrical, and plumbing fixtures
• Ensure building safety by following building safety codes
• Ensure that building is kept clean, orderly, and free of trash and debris
• Maintain and repair all office equipment
• Provide excellent customer service
• Maintain confidentiality
• Follow through on projects and repairs

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

• Maintain a detailed inventory of maintenance items and their properties, and update and maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance, and corrective activities
• Maintain and calibrate all equipment, tools, and machinery, and attend training and safety meetings
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning and greasing, and change filters and fluids
• Maintain clean and organized work areas
• Maintain and update maintenance procedures and manuals
• Regularly inspect machinery, facilities, and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and operation; make repairs and report on resulting safety or maintenance issues
• Keep supplies at appropriate levels and report shortages

Requirements And Skills:

• Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical, electrical, or plumbing
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles
• Proven ability to install, repair, and maintain heavy equipment and machinery
• Good communication skills with co-workers and clients
