Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Material Planner who can help us optimize our inventory and production process. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or production environment and be familiar with MRP/ERP systems. They will be able to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the team to implement changes.
Material Planner Duties:
- Ensure that materials are properly ordered and delivered to the jobsite
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels, requisitioning materials and equipment, and ordering new materials when necessary
- Complete and submit paperwork, reports and documentation accurately
- Assist in conducting job cost analysis, tracking costs and profits
- Prepare reports for management, clients, and customers
Material Planner Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze suppliers, products, and plans to identify cost and logistics issues
- Coordinate with relevant departments and suppliers, and make recommendations for improvement
- Create and update vendor and material lists, and update database with product specs and quantities
- Maintain and update BOMs (Bill of Materials) in all systems
- Assign, monitor, and delegate materials-related work
- Conduct inventory counts as needed
- Determine material needs for projects and oversee their procurement
- Update inventory and procurement systems
- Assist in various training and orientation programs
- Assist with safety programs and protocols
- Perform special projects as assigned
Requirements And Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or logistics
- 2+ years proven experience managing material plans for construction projects or large-scale material moves
- Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
- Strong knowledge of building codes and contract/project requirements
