The mechanical engineer is the professional responsible for designing the equipment used in manufacturing.
The mechanical engineer’s duties include evaluating the wishes of the customer, studying the product’s shape, size, and weight, identifying material requirements, and studying how the product will be fabricated.
They also prepare blueprints for the product’s finished design and work with all departments to ensure that the product will meet all safety, quality, and cost considerations.
Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the design of a new product. The engineer will be responsible for the overall mechanical design of the product, including the development of new concepts and the refinement of existing designs. The engineer will also be responsible for the development of engineering specifications and drawings, as well as working with other engineers and technicians to ensure the successful implementation of the design.
Mechanical Design Engineer Duties:
- Design and install standard and specialized HVAC systems, such as, chilled water, steam, hot water, gas, and oil-fired
- Design, install, and maintain plumbing systems, such as, sanitary and storm, domestic water, and wastewater treatment
- Provide expert engineering advice to architects, designers, personnel, and others on HVAC and plumbing systems
- Learn and adhere to all applicable codes and regulations
- Develop and implement HVAC and plumbing system designs
- Develop, organize, and implement company policies and procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical system components with an understanding of building systems and equipment, building codes, and safety standards
- Develop 2D & 3D CAD drawings of HVAC, plumbing, sprinkler, and drainage systems
- Assist with preconstruction planning
- Compile plans for submittal to building department for approval
- Provide technical support during design, construction, and start-up phases of projects
- Conduct pre-construction meetings to review project scope and budget
- Develop and maintain project schedules to project completion
- Maintain professional relationships with architects, engineers, and contractors
- Perform equipment and/or system hydraulic calculations
- Assist with project field startup and commissioning activities
- Perform system and equipment balancing
- Assist with project bid packages
- Perform system and equipment commissioning
- Work with engineering staff and contractors to field test systems
- Work with engineering staff and contractors
Requirements And Skills:
- Proven experience in a mechanical engineering role
- Experience in HVAC design, including installation and maintenance
- Experience in mechanical systems integration
- Experience in plumbing design and layout
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
