Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Duties:

• Care for premature newborns, infants, and toddlers
• Insist on strict adherence to all state and federal operating regulations
• Diagnose and manage ailments, injuries, and conditions
• Operate specialized medical equipment
• Develop and implement therapy plans
• Conduct research initiatives
• Participate in quality improvement efforts
• Supervise other staff

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:

• Keep up to date with all professional licensure and certifications, including CPR certification
• Provide patient care for newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, administering the medications and treatments prescribed by physicians or nurse practitioners
• Courteously answer patient calls, explain hospital policies and services, and refer patients to appropriate physicians
• Provide feedback to physicians and nurse practitioners about patient’s condition
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, physicians, and patients
• Research and conduct follow-up studies using current published studies, medical literature, and clinical experience
• Supervise and participate in educational programs for staff, physicians, and patients
• Participate in performance improvement projects
• Perform other related duties as requested by supervisor

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• 2+ years of neonatal nursing experience
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
• Proven ability to analyze issues, develop suggestions and implement projects
• Strong organizational and time management skills
