Orthodontic Dental Assistant Job Description

An orthodontic dental assistant performs many of the same duties as an orthodontic assistant, but a dentist must be consulted before working on children.

Job Brief:

Orthodontic Dental Assistant Duties:

• Assists orthodontist and dentist in completing dental and orthodontic procedures, including x-rays and impressions
• Prepares orthodontic appliances such as bands, wires, and braces
• Assists orthodontist and dentist with patient examinations and procedures
• Maintains and maintains orthodontic records, x-rays, and treatment records

Orthodontic Dental Assistant Responsibilities:

• Assist in the maintenance of office records including scheduling, inventory, and billing
• Perform dental and orthodontic procedures
• Provide patient information and treatment plans
• Uphold dental practice policies and professional standards
• Deliver orthodontic and dental services
• Arrange for and coordinate appointments
• Follow cleaning, sterilization, and disinfection procedures
• Insure patient confidentiality
• Clean, stock, and organize treatment rooms
• Maintain and clean equipment
• Assist in labeling of instruments
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

• Requires Associate Degree or high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years experience
