Patent Paralegal Duties:
- Assist in preparation of patent filings, including reviewing, organizing and formatting documents, creating legal documents, and filing documents
- Perform research regarding patents and inventors
- Support patent attorneys, including conducting telephonic interviews and drafting correspondence
- Establish and maintain schedules, calendars, and deadlines
- Create and maintain files containing documents and other information related to patent-related matters
- Support patent attorneys with other tasks as needed
Patent Paralegal Responsibilities:
- Support patent and trademark attorneys by performing various tasks related to patent preparation and prosecution
- Review and analyze technical drawings and rough drafts of patent applications
- Conduct legal research and prepare patentability reports
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and draft pleadings
- Perform data entry, production, and utilization
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements And Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in research, drafting, or intellectual property
- Knowledge and experience preparing patent applications as well as patentability and prior art research
- Knowledge and experience using technical software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Acrobat
- Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- At least 2 years of patent paralegal experience. Prior related experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
