Physical Therapy Aide Job Description

Physical therapy aides are individuals who assist licensed physical therapists with treating patients and providing physical therapy.

Physical therapy aides are certified, licensed, and registered in a number of different states.

Physical therapy aides work in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, and private practices.

Job duties of physical therapy aides typically include providing physical therapy to patients, observing and reporting changes in the health of patients, assisting physical therapists with treatment, and documenting patient treatment.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Physical Therapy Aide to work in our clinic. The ideal candidate will have experience working with patients in a physical therapy setting.

Physical Therapy Aide Duties:

• Assist in the planning and implementation of physical therapy programs
• Generate and maintain a log of patient progress
• Assist patients with exercises, stretching, and range of motion
• Provide other physical therapy services
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Therapy Aide Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care, under supervision, for assigned patient population by performing physical therapist directed treatments and activities
• Properly set up, maintain, and inventory physical therapy equipment, supplies and furniture
• Assist in maintaining proper hygiene of all equipment
• Educate patients, families and caregivers regarding physical therapy, including articles, policies and procedures, and therapeutic exercises
• Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers
• Assist in activities related to billing and reimbursement

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 2+ years’ proven experience as a rehab aide
• Ability to work with a wide variety of patients
• Knowledge and ability to apply basic patient care skills, including wound care, bandaging, and respiratory treatments
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families
