Piano Teacher Job Description

Piano teachers teach students how to play piano, either in person or by teaching them online.

Piano teachers typically charge an hourly fee, and they usually base their rates on the number of students they have.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Piano Teacher to teach our students how to play the piano. The ideal candidate will have a passion for music and a willingness to share their knowledge with others. They will also be patient and able to work with students of all levels of ability.

Piano Teacher Duties:

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with students and their parents
• Work with other teachers to create and maintain a positive learning environment
• Write lesson plans and homework assignments for each student
• Participate in developing and maintaining a stimulating curriculum
• Attend faculty meetings and conferences
• Investigate and answer student questions
• Establish classroom procedures
• Distribute materials to designated classrooms
• Support school events and activities
• Design and implement instructional activities
• Meet with parents to discuss student progress
• Create and maintain accurate records
• Develop lesson plans and homework assignments
• Enforce school rules and regulations with high regard for safety
• Maintain adequate supervision of students
• Attend faculty meeting
• Monitor student progress
• Develop, implement, and revise curriculum

Piano Teacher Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate adherence to teaching agreements and policies
• Encourage students to practice at least 30 minutes per day
• Encourage students to practice at least five days per week
• Provide feedback to students and parents on student progress and guide them through the learning process
• Maintain and update student records
• Perform administrative tasks including preparing lesson materials, keeping student records updated, conducting parent conferences, and maintaining equipment

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in music education
• 2+ years’ of teaching experience
• Ability to read music and play piano
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organization abilities and strong ability to follow directions
• Ability to set and attain goals
• Strong organizational and time management skills
