Job Brief:

We’re looking for Psychiatric Nurses to care for our patients with mental health conditions. You will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients, as well as working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of care.

Psychiatric Nurse Duties:

• Provide direct patient care, starting with initial assessment and continuing through admission, discharge, and follow-up
• Educate patients and families about community resources
• Assist in the coordination of care with other medical professionals
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care as necessary
• Assist in the administration of psychiatric medications

Psychiatric Nurse Responsibilities:

• Registered nursing license (as applicable)
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
• Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
• Knowledge of psychiatric medication administration
• Excellent communication skills

Requirements And Skills:

• Provide care to patients taking into account their cultural, ethnic, and religious values as well as psychological, social, and medical needs
• Evaluate and assess patients’ health status, psychological needs, and response to treatment, and develop a plan of care with ongoing monitoring and evaluation
• Educate patients about their health needs and how to prevent illness and injuries, and counsel them on healthy lifestyles
• Perform focused and goal-directed assessments and evaluations, organize care plans, and develop behavior modification treatment plans
• Implement treatment plans and authorize medications and treatments
• Maintain accurate medical records, including patient progress notes and treatment plans
• Attend staff meetings to participate in problem solving, and assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating staff performance
• Document patient care in charts and reports
• Maintain confidentiality
