Speech Pathologist Job Description

A speech pathologist is a person who evaluates, treats, and trains people who have speech, language, or voice impairments or disorders.

Speech pathologists work in hospitals, clinics, special education settings, and other outpatient environments.

As a speech-language pathologist, you are an important part of your patient’s healthcare team.

Speech-language pathologists provide speech therapy services to people of all ages.

Children with communication disorders may need help from a speech-language pathologist who practices in school settings.

Speech-language pathologists also provide assistance to adults who have problems with language.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Speech Pathologist to help us improve our communication skills. Our goal is to be able to better communicate with our patients and their families. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about helping others and who has a strong knowledge of the field.

Speech Pathologist Duties:

• Create, implement, and monitor programs of speech therapy for children and adults with speech, language, cognitive, and/or swallowing disorders
• Specialize in communication, cognition, and swallowing disorders

Speech Pathologist Responsibilities:

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
• +2 years’ experience providing clinical services to children
• +2 years’ experience providing clinical services to adults
• Knowledge of phonological disorders
• Knowledge of dyspraxia
• Knowledge of articulation disorders
• Knowledge of swallowing disorders

Requirements And Skills:

• work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide assessment, intervention, education, and rehabilitation to individuals with communication disorders
• Perform comprehensive speech-language and swallowing evaluations and treatment
• Provide consultation and education to schools and families
• Educate clients on treatment, communication skills, and swallowing techniques
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, using appropriate modalities and techniques
• Assist the neuropsychologist in screening, assessment, and diagnostic evaluations and treatment
• Serve as liaison between the client, family, school, and other treatment team members
• Develop and oversee individualized therapeutic programs
• Keep patient records and maintain client’s progress
• Implement therapeutic activities in the clinical setting and in home/community
• Supervise therapeutic activities performed by students
• Develop educational goals and individual home programs for school age clients
