Substitute Paraprofessional Job Description
A substitute paraprofessional is anyone who works under the direct supervision of a certified paraprofessional.
A substitute paraprofessional may be allowed to perform tasks that would be performed by a certified paraprofessional.
However, the substitute paraprofessional is not allowed to perform work that would be performed by a certified paraprofessional.
For example, if a substitute paraprofessional gives speech therapy to a student, a certified paraprofessional is allowed to do speech therapy, but not a licensed speech pathologist.
While substitute paraprofessionals do not have all of the privileges of a certified paraprofessional, they are considered paraprofessionals, as they are working under the direct supervision of a certified paraprofessional.
