Tractor-trailer Truck Driver Job Description

A tractor-trailer truck driver is a person who drives large commercial vehicles that transport goods and materials.

Drivers transport freight for many different companies, including large shipping companies.

Truck drivers usually have a commercial driver’s license, and must undergo a series of tests given by state licensing authorities before receiving their commercial driver’s license.

These tests are designed to test a person’s driving skills, their ability to operate a vehicle safely and in heavy traffic, and their knowledge of the rules of the road.

Truck drivers are required to obtain a commercial driver’s license before working.

All truck drivers are required to have a Class A or Class B license.

We’re looking for an experienced Tractor-trailer Truck Driver to join our team. You will be responsible for safely driving and operating a tractor-trailer truck, as well as completing all required paperwork and documentation. Tractor-trailer Truck Driver Duties:

• Drive tractor-trailer trucks to various locations for the delivery of items
• Load and unload the truck, transport goods, and unload at the delivery site
• Ensure that all items loaded are secure during the trip
• Responsible for reporting any incidents or accidents
• Must keep a clean driving record

Tractor-trailer Truck Driver Responsibilities:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• 2+ years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
• Ability to understand and comply with DOT regulations
• Ability to maintain a professional, courteous attitude

Requirements And Skills:

• Drive tractor trailer trucks carrying building materials or finished products from factories to construction sites
• Meet federal, state, and local requirements regarding equipment operation and transportation
• Maintain log books and route records and submit reports as required
• Other duties as assigned
