What is Summary Dismissal?

The act of summary dismissal refers to the immediate termination of an employee’s contract due to their behavior, this usually happens as a result of gross misconduct.

What are Summary Dismissal reasons?

  • Attend work under influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Stelling important corporate materials.
  • Violence, discrimination and harassment.
  • Disregarding software security protocols.

Why are summary dismissals necessary?

In many cases, an employee may be guilty of misconduct but may not have been given a chance to improve their behavior. When this happens, it may be necessary to dismiss the employee without notice or pay in order to protect the company.

Summary dismissals may also be necessary when an employee is found to be guilty of serious misconduct, such as theft, violence, or drug use.
