What is L&D? 

Learning and development, or L&D, is the process through which individuals and organizations develop their ability to achieve their desired performance objectives. L&D can be focused on individual employees or on an organization as a whole. L&D programs can be formal or informal and can be delivered through a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, videos, seminars, workshops, on-the-job training, and company-sponsored extracurricular activities.

Learning and development professionals are tasked with identifying skill gaps among employees within an organization, then developing and delivering training to fill those gaps.

Additionally, learning and development help employees to be more engaged and productive in their roles, which benefits both the individual and the organization.
