What is the Notice Period?
An employee’s notice period is the amount of time they are required to work for their employer after resigning, being dismissed, or being made redundant. The length of the notice period depends on the amount of time the employee has worked for their employer, as well as what is stated in their employment contract.

How Much Notice Does An Employee Have To Give?
When an employee is terminated, no matter the reason, the employee is required to give two weeks’ notice. The employer is required to pay the two weeks’ notice pay plus up to 6 months of the employee’s wages.
The amount of notice depends on the employment agreement, such as whether an employee is hourly, salaried, or commissioned. If an employee is hourly or on a commission basis, then the two-week notice pay is equal to 1/2 the employee’s average weekly wage. If the employee is salaried or paid on a straight salary basis, then the two weeks pay is equal to one week’s salary and not the employee’s average weekly wage.
