Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Animal Trainer to work with our new group of rescue animals. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of animals and be able to provide them with the care and attention they need.

Animal Trainer Duties:

Animal Trainer Responsibilities:

• Incorporate humane training methods into animal handling, husbandry, and care, and create customized training regimens based on animal temperament and behavior
• Establish and enforce animal handling policies and procedures, including privacy and security measures, for animal care and breeding facilities
• Perform animal care and breeding duties, including feeding, monitoring, watering, and grooming
• Provide emergency and routine medical care to injured, ill, and aging animals
• Train personnel and animals in proper animal care and handling
• Train animals in how to perform tasks, including driving, following commands, and interacting with the public
• Train animals for behavior modification such as fear biting, aggression, socialization, and other behavior modification techniques
• Assist in the procurement of feed, medicines, equipment, and other supplies to ensure adequate supply for animals
• Provide administrative support, including data entry

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, animal behavior, or related field
• 3+ years’ experience of training animals
• Excellent understanding of animal behavior and training techniques
• Ability to communicate effectively with owners
• Knowledge of animal behavior principles, including training, feeding, and grooming
