Cable Installer Job Description

A cable installer is a professional who installs various types of electrical cables, such as coaxial cable, telephone cables, and fiber optic cables.

Cable installers usually work indoors and sometimes outdoors.

They may install cables in offices, schools, apartment buildings, hospitals, or other buildings.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Cable Installers who are responsible for installing and repairing cable television and broadband internet systems. They work with customers to install new services and troubleshoot existing ones. Cable installers also handle customer inquiries and take service orders.

Cable Installer Duties:

• Performing complex duties essential for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable television systems
• Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable systems
• Maintaining records such as service orders, warranties, and customer correspondence
• Connecting existing cable television wiring to custom cable solutions

Cable Installer Responsibilities:

• Perform all installations and maintenance activities according to engineering and company standards, following local, state, and federal codes, industry standards, and local equipment handbooks
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical equipment, mechanical, and computer equipment, including cabling, data networks, telephones, and phone systems
• Maintain inventory records, manage budgets, and document daily activities
• Promote teamwork, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
• Perform preventive maintenance and crop protection activities
• Perform safety training

Requirements And Skills:

• Current, valid Driver’s License
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders
• Proven experience installing A/V, automation, and data networking cable systems
• Ability to work with hand tools
• Good communication skills
• Ability to read English and use tape measure
