Cloud Architect Job Description

A cloud architect is a person or organization that is responsible for the structuring, design, and implementation of cloud computing environments.

A cloud architect generally works for a cloud computing service provider and is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a robust cloud computing environment.

They typically work the with internal IT personnel and with senior leadership to determine the proper cloud architecture for an organization.

They are responsible for ensuring that proper network architectures are in place, as well as that security architectures are appropriate.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Cloud Architect to help us design and build the next generation of cloud-based applications and services. The ideal candidate will have experience in both traditional and cloud-based environments and be able to provide expertise in designing, building, and managing scalable, high-performance applications and services.

Cloud Architect Duties:

• Lead, plan, design, and develop cloud technology platforms
• Ensure asset data, security, and isolation are meet the client’s requirements
• Provide consultation and assessments regarding cloud technology
• Develop and maintain strategies for aligning organizational structure and operations with cloud technology
• Evaluate, evaluate, and document a cloud architecture
• Promote standardization, risk mitigation, and cost reduction on cloud technology
• Consult with clients, customers, and vendors on cloud technology
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
• Skilled in evaluating, evaluating, and documenting a cloud architecture
• Ability to proactively work with others
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to change

Cloud Architect Responsibilities:

• Lead a technical team to design, implement, and maintain company cloud solutions, including datacenter, network, and application, with complete adherence to all security and compliance requirements
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud hosted services, including infrastructure, databases, virtual machines, application services, and disaster recovery
• Implement, maintain, secure, and support cloud systems, operating systems, and applications
• Develop, document, test, and implement cloud hosted solutions
• Provide technical leadership and manage change control across cloud services, working with IT and project management teams
• Maintain and monitor cloud hosted systems and applications
• Ensure IT projects and services meet the company’s vision and requirements
• Provide AWS integration services, systems integration, and architectural guidance
• Provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting
• Develop and execute plans for cloud system migration
• Provide technical guidance to vendors

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field
• 5+ years’ experience in architecting for Web and network services
• Expertise in architecting, building, and deploying distributed cloud and enterprise applications
• Experience in designing for scale, accessibility, and resilience
