Commercial Construction Project Manager Duties:

  • Create construction schedules, tracking resource utilization and identifying issues
  • Prepare detailed project budgets
  • Establish relationships with owners, architects, and consultants
  • Manage all contracts and subcontracts
  • Oversee project completion, providing staff with on-site daily supervision and feedback
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors
  • Research and resolve unanticipated project issues
  • Meet with internal and external clients to discuss project status
  • Support general management with administrative tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Commercial Construction Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Understand and interpret construction contracts, manage and direct subcontractors, and perform cost analysis
  • Track project costs and budgets, and maintain cost reports
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors
  • Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project, develop and maintain project reports, and manage project resources and human resources
  • Participate in preconstruction planning meetings, weekly meetings, change orders, and project closeouts
  • Develop relationships with subcontractors and vendors, and build a team of reliable and trustworthy subcontractors and vendors
  • Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Create and maintain weekly progress reports
  • Report project progress and/or problems to supervisors, upper management, and key stakeholders

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • 5+ years of project management experience on commercial construction projects
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with a constant eye on quality
  • Knowledge of estimating and cost control methods
  • Knowledge of building codes required
