A criminal analyst is someone who is tasked with analyzing evidence collected from crime scenes.

Often, analysts will be tasked with analyzing fingerprints, blood or DNA samples, ballistics, or fingerprints.

An analyst will usually work in a lab and will be responsible for handling evidence, photographing it and measuring it.

The analyst will use the results of their analysis to determine what it means, not only in a forensic sense but also in relation to the chances that a particular individual committed the crime.

  • Maintain an accurate and complete database of all criminal and civil cases
  • Develop and maintain a filing system of case files
  • Prepare reports and documents for direct supervisor and court

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience as a criminal analyst
  • Knowledge of federal and state criminal laws, procedures, and regulations
  • Knowledge of local courts and law enforcement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
