Director of Finance Job Description

The Director of Finance manages the finance function of a company.

This role requires a background in accounting, financial planning, and budgeting.

Directors of Finance are in charge of all financial processes, including purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

They also review financial statements and prepare quarterly financial forecasts and budgets.

Directors of Finance must also be able to communicate effectively with senior management.

Doing so requires excellent listening skills and a proficiency in speaking and interacting with the C-suite.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Director of Finance to lead our finance team and oversee all financial operations of the company. The Director of Finance will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies, managing financial risks, and overseeing the financial planning and budgeting of the company.

Director of Finance Duties:

• Oversee all aspects of operations, including budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting
• Manage and analyze financial data, including regular audits
• Evaluate and approve requests for capital and operating budgets
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
• Prepare and review reports
• Ensure compliance with all legal requirements
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers
• Provide management with information and advice, ensuring that management decisions and actions support the goals of the organization
• Coordinate and manage the work of others

Director of Finance Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret financial statements and reports, perform financial analysis, review budgets and forecasts, and develop financial strategies
• Coordinate with team leaders to identify short- and long-term financial and capital requirements, including debt and equity financing, revenue projections, and funding scenarios
• Implement capital improvement plans to increase revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction
• Direct management of all financial activities and accounting functions within the department, including direct reporting and coordination of all financial activities with subordinate department heads and support teams
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
• 5+ years of public accounting and/or finance experience
• Proven ability to develop budgets and financial forecasts
• Proven ability to interpret financial reports and financial statements
