A domestic engineer is a person that takes care of the needs of a household.

This could be taking care of the family’s personal needs, such as cleaning the household, cooking, and taking care of the children.

It also refers to taking care of business needs such as paying the household’s bills, preparing budgets, and grocery shopping.

A person could either be a full-time or part-time domestic engineer but most of the time, domestic engineers are homemakers, taking care of the family’s needs.

Domestic Engineer Duties:

• Create and implement strategies for the optimization of domestic operations
• Manage the store and departmental budgets
• Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, and reports
• Manage inventory and clerical procedures

• Make informed choices about purchasing and purchasing decisions
• Prepare and maintain files and correspondence

Domestic Engineer Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of domestic assistants (maids, butlers, cooks, etc.), training them to meet the company standards, expectations, and requirements
• Train / retrain staff on customer service standards, new processes, and new products
• Ensure staff are attending necessary trainings, and bonuses and incentives are administered as agreed upon
• Provide feedback to upper management on domestic staff performance
• Create and maintain schedules / work plans
• Meet with staff weekly to discuss visitors / clients
• Conduct performance reviews with staff
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and performance

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in interior design or a related field
• 3+ years’ proven experience in domestic-related services
• Knowledge of building code requirements and remodeling standards
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Solid knowledge of design concepts, materials and installation methods
