A driver is a person or thing usually used in transport.

An operating vehicle (such as a truck, boat, train, or airplane) that is in capable mechanical condition, and that is used to carry passengers or freight as part of an organized business.

Driver Duties

• Drive material handling equipment to move materials and merchandise as needed
• Follow and adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
• Perform job duties safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure proper operation
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of work performed on company time cards
• Maintain professional, tactful, and courteous communication behaviors

Driver Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicle maintenance logs, report vehicle maintenance issues to the operations manager, and comply with all federal and state Department of Transportation regulations
• Drive assigned route safely and on schedule, and take the time to resolve customer complaints, provide a consistent high level of customer service, and meet inbound and outbound goals
• Maintain company asset utilization
• Coordinate with operations manager regarding vehicle deliveries and pickups
• Campaign, if necessary, to achieve financial goals

Requirements And Skills

• Ability to maintain valid Class A CDL license
• Prior experience as a driver preferred
• Excellent customer interaction and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to drive a tractor trailer safely to keep a load safe and secure
• Ability to solve logistical problems
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
