Drummer Job Description

A drummer is a musician who performs on drums, the hand drums associated with music.

Drummer Duties:

• Perform for live local venues
• Perform for promotional and studio recording purposes
• Meet and perform with national recording artists
• Regularly meet with manager to discuss future career moves
• Establish and maintain relationships with headhunters
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Drummer Responsibilities:

• Perform regularly, including weekly rehearsals, with established touring band
• Perform musical repertoire from stage with band in front of audiences
• Set-up, break down, and organize equipment during show, including drums, cymbals, and stands
• Work with management to rehearse with band periodically, including weekend and weeknight rehearsals
• Perform in other supporting roles, such as lighting and sound
• Order band merchandise, including CDs, DVDs, T-shirts, and hats
• Order drum sticks, drumstick heads, and drum key chains
• Recommend marketing ideas for the band

Requirements And Skills:

• Knowledge of basic drumming technique and theory
• Ability to read music
• Ability to play drums to a high standard
• Ability to perform at live concerts
• Excellent timekeeping
• Ability to work nights and weekends
