Electrical Drafter Job Description

Electrical drafters ensure that blueprints and other drawings are understood and have the correct information.

Electrical drafters need to be familiar with both computers and manual drafting machines.

An electrical drafter may use a computer to manually design electrical schematics or they may use a computer to design blueprints.

An electrical drafter may also use a computer to create computer-generated images (CGIs) or animations to aid in the visualization of complex electronics or machinery.

An electrical drafter may also use a computer to create three-dimensional models of product ideas.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Electrical Drafter to work with our team on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and designing electrical systems, as well as a strong understanding of the NEC. Electrical Drafter Duties:

• Assist in the design of electrical drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
• Provide suggestions and advice for renovations and electrical systems
• Provide feedback on electrical drawings, schematics, and designs
• Use technology to create drawings
• Perform basic mathematical calculations
• Document and record data
• Meet deadlines

Electrical Drafter Responsibilities:

• Use the computer and drafting software to produce electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
• Develop technical drawings and drafting specifications
• Review and revise existing drafting procedures
• Assist with calculations, estimates, and budgets
• Report on project progress and results
• Perform other tasks, as required

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• 2+ years’ proven experience as an Electrical Drafter
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Ability to engage in detailed technical discussions and write detailed reports
