Floor Tech Job Description

A floor tech is a person who installs flooring in a commercial building.

Floor techs mainly work in commercial construction, although they can also work for other trades, such as electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians.

Floor techs typically are trained and licensed flooring installers.

Many floor techs possess certification from industry associations, such as the National Wood Flooring Association.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Floor Techs to work in our store. We need someone who can keep our floors clean and shiny.

Floor Tech Duties:

• Perform all duties associated with floor preparation, finishing, and installation, including floor inspection, refinishing, buffing, sealing, and waxing, and floor stripping and waxing
• Investigate and resolve issues as they arise
• Complete floor preparation, finish, and installation, according to the schedule
• Ensure that floors are cleaned and prepared prior to the arrival of any other trades, and that the job is complete prior to the arrival of any other trades
• Ensure all floor finishes are inspected and tested according to the specification
• Ensure all floor finishes are installed and inspected according to the specification
• Perform any other duties as needed

Floor Tech Responsibilities:

• Assist senior techs and project managers on the floor with construction activities
• Perform duties, including floor preparation and post-installation, as directed by supervisor
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs and floor preparation
• Assist with floor preparation
• Use various measurement tools, including laser levels, tapes, and levels
• Assist with quality assurance inspections
• Perform quality control checks on all work
• Perform other duties as assigned
