Food Preparation Worker Job Description

Some restaurants employ workers to prepare food.

These are the items on the menu that are not prepared in entirety by a chef.

These workers generally perform tasks such as chopping, mincing, cooking, mixing, and garnishing.

We’re looking for a Food Preparation Worker to help us with our food service needs. You will be responsible for preparing food for our customers, as well as cleaning up afterwards. Food Preparation Worker Duties:

• Prepare food according to recipe, preparing customer’s order, using appropriate measuring and portioning devices
• Instruct customers on cooking methods, preparation techniques, and food safety
• Promote sales by answering questions about ingredients, preparation, and serving sizes
• Promote a safe and clean kitchen environment by controlling hazardous foods, cleaning equipment, and employee areas

Food Preparation Worker Responsibilities:

• Recommends food preparation procedures; assists cooks in food preparation according to recipes; replenishes supplies; cleans kitchen, dining room, and work areas; and stocks supplies

Requirements And Skills:

• Previous experience as a cook
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
