Groundskeeper Job Description

A groundskeeper is a person who maintains the grounds of a business or residence.

Groundskeeper Duties:

• Maintain grounds, building, and grounds equipment
• Maintain landscaping and grounds
• Clean and edge sidewalks, driveways, and curbs
• Maintain building grounds, including lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers
• Maintain grounds equipment and landscape features, including fountains, pools, and waterfalls
• Maintain irrigation systems, including checking and adjusting equipment
• Maintain birdbaths, bird feeders, and similar features
• Fence and rake lawns, remove debris and trash, and report any unusual conditions
• Inspect and maintain lawn areas and landscaping to ensure safety
• Shut off and reset sprinklers as necessary
• Maintain building entrances, sidewalks, and parking lots
• Properly store and dispose of trash, oil, and other hazardous material
• Maintain parking lots

Groundskeeper Responsibilities:

• Maintain turf, foliage, and landscaping on assigned sites
• Maintain irrigation systems and equipment
• Maintain and service equipment, vehicles, and other facility-related equipment
• Follow all company and client safety, environmental, and quality control policies and procedures
• Follow all company policies and procedures

Requirements And Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of experience in grounds maintenance
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Knowledge of mowing, weed-eating, and pruning techniques
