Groundsman Job Description

A groundsman maintains or maintains the appearance of a golf course, sports field, or some other facility by keeping it free of hazards and by mowing the grass.

A groundsman may sometimes be known as a greenkeeper.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Groundsman to maintain the landscaping and grounds of commercial, industrial, or residential properties.

Groundsman Duties:

• Separate and relocate trash from dumpster
• Clean and maintain interior and exterior grounds
• Water, prune and fertilize plants
• Maintain plant beds
• Clean and maintain landscaping supplies
• Direct delivery of materials

Groundsman Responsibilities:

• Maintain lawn and landscape including watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, and harvesting
• Plant and maintain flower beds and trees
• Maintain sprinkler systems and manage irrigation systems
• Manage drainage systems
• Ensure appearance of parking lots, buildings, and grounds
• Maintain equipment and tools
• Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Clean up of work area

Requirements And Skills:

• Proficient landscape maintenance technician
• Knowledge of irrigation, lighting, and snow removal equipment
• Ability to coordinate with facility staff
• Knowledge of turf and plant types
• Ability to manage crew
• Ability to perform both skilled and manual labor
