Kinesiologist Job Description

A kinesiologist is a person who studies human movement and body mechanics.

Kinesiologists are sometimes referred to as movement specialists because they study how the body functions with regard to movement.

Kinesiologists investigate how people move by determining their muscle function, posture, and biomechanics.

A kinesiologist’s main goal is to determine and understand how the body moves and the fuel that fuels the movement.

For example, a kinesiologist may conduct movement testing, pick up a client, measure their gait, and analyze the client’s posture.

We’re looking for a Kinesiologist to come and help us out with our fitness program. We need someone who can help us design a program that will meet our needs and help us reach our fitness goals.

Kinesiologist Duties:

• Evaluate patients’ physical conditions through testing and observation
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Support rehabilitation team by communicating treatment objectives
• Train and educate patients on safety, proper exercise techniques, and diet
• Assist physicians and therapists with patient treatments
• Develop and administer treatment programs and treatment plans
• Evaluate patients’ recovery processes
• Promote patient recovery through effective rehabilitation interventions
• Review, evaluate, and update treatment plans
• Assist rehabilitation team in developing treatment plans
• Develop and administer treatment programs

Kinesiologist Responsibilities:

• Perform measurement and evaluation techniques and protocols, including physical, neurologic, and psychosocial assessments, as well as developing, implementing, and tracking individualized treatment plans
• Generate reports using physiologic and biomechanical assessments
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans
• Maintain and update progress notes, treatment plans, patient records, assessment reports, and billings

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field
• 3+ years’ experience as a kinesiologist, physical therapist assistant or similar position
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
