A lead teacher is a person qualified to direct a classroom in the absence of the teacher in charge.

The lead teacher assumes the instructional responsibilities of the absent teacher.

Lead teachers are responsible for supporting and modeling effective instructional practices in the classroom.

They may be required to conduct the next morning’s lesson or review lessons already taught.

Lead teachers may also act as substitute teachers, as needed.

Lead teachers work with teachers to discern their instructional needs and create lesson plans to meet those needs.

Lead teachers may also report to the principal or superintendent about how the students are learning.

Lead Teacher Duties:

  • Oversee and manage faculty, including setting objectives and objectives goals, managing instructors, and overseeing student progression

  • Ensure compliance with curriculum and standards
  • Oversee student progression by monitoring and assessing students’ progress
  • Ensure operations of the classroom are in line with college and district standards
  • Prepare, submit, and track lesson plans

Lead Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct classes according to state curriculum standards and Montessori methods, including lesson planning and preparation
  • Assist in guiding students’ social development and behavior, and in planning, organizing, and conducting extracurricular activities
  • Meet regularly with students to review short-term progress
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress, as well as student behavioral concerns
  • Lead and participate in professional development

Requirements And Skills:

  • A minimum of 2+ years teaching experience
  • Proficiency in Spanish is required
  • Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in Spanish
  • Proficiency with computers, technology, and the internet
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of instructional methods
