Mechanic Job Description

A mechanic is a person that repairs or maintains mechanical equipment such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and airplanes.

Mechanics use hand and power tools to fix and replace worn or broken parts.

Mechanics may also use diagnostic equipment, such as diagnostic scanners, computers, and oscilloscopes, to measure performance and troubleshoot problems.

Mechanics usually specialize in certain areas such as auto repair, engine rebuilds, electrical work, and transmission repair.

Mechanics usually work with managers, owners, and technicians.

Mechanics are typically paid by the hour and are not commissioned salespeople.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Mechanic to help us keep our cars in top shape. You’ll be responsible for performing regular maintenance and repairs, as well as diagnosing and fixing any issues that come up. If you have a passion for mechanics and a strong work ethic, we want you on our team!

Mechanic Duties:

• Diagnose malfunctions of cars, trucks, tractors, and other vehicles
• Install, repair, and maintain engines and electrical components of vehicles and engines
• Fabricate and install components such as filters, pistons, and rods
• Fuse, repair, and test wires and cables of engines and electrical components of vehicles
• Perform general maintenance on vehicles and engines
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles
• Perform other duties as needed

Mechanic Responsibilities:

• Maintain and repair equipment and vehicles, and perform general maintenance activities
• Maintain and record maintenance records
• Recommend ways to increase productivity
• Supervise and train other mechanics
• Responsible for ensuring that team members and subcontractors comply with safety regulations
• Assist in acquiring materials and supplies
• Maintain equipment inventories

Requirements And Skills:

• Experience with electrical systems
• 2+ years’ proven experience with equipment and vehicle repairs
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems
• Knowledge of hydraulics
• Knowledge of and experience with computers
