Montessori Teacher Duties:

• Builds and maintains positive relationships with parents, children, and the school community to provide general assistance
• Assists with the management of classroom resources to ensure consistency
• Manages individual classroom activities, such as planning, developing schedules, and modeling behavior
• Guides, monitors, and directs children in adherence to classroom rules and procedures
• Assesses individual children’s needs for a better teaching and learning experience
• Develops individualized lesson plans for every child
• Provides learning experiences and materials that address all developmental areas
• Consults with parents on their child’s progress
• Assists with administrative duties for receiving and distributing funds and goods
• Researches, implements, and evaluates programs within the school
• Identifies and addresses issues of concern
• Provides training to school staff
• Organizes and maintains safe and clean classrooms
• Provides leadership and direction to school staff

Montessori Teacher Responsibilities:

• Implement the curriculum and Montessori philosophy
• Train and develop other teachers
• Supervise the classroom environment, including setting and enforcing safety regulations
• Develop interest and skill in each student through child-directed learning
• Maintain a safe and secure environment by monitoring and enforcing safety regulations
• Prepare for classes, communicate with parents, and problem-solve classroom issues
• Assist in scheduling, maintaining, and updating school records
• Communicate with others in a positive and professional manner

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in education with concentration in early childhood education
• Experience in a Montessori environment
• Experience with keeping the environment safe and conducive to learning
• Knowledge of Montessori materials and techniques
• Knowledge of child development and psychology
