Mover Job Description

A mover is a person or company that transports another person or company’s property, such as household goods, to a new location.

Movers offer a range of services, including packing, storage, and cleaning services for the property being relocated.

The transporters are typically either owner-operators or large companies.

Some moving companies specialize in moving certain items, such as pianos or fine art.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Mover to help us with our move. We need someone who is strong and can lift heavy furniture. We also need someone who is experienced and knows how to move furniture without damaging it.

Mover Duties:

• Assist with loading and unloading of household goods, rental trucks, and trailers
• Help clients move in and out of apartments/homes
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Assist with the preparation of all materials needed for the move, including pricing, inventory, and scheduling
• Ensure all materials are loaded, unloaded, and prepped
• Ensure all client information, such as addresses, phone numbers, and inventory lists are accurate and up to date

Mover Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, and relocate furniture, equipment, tools, and other belongings; and redistribute furniture and equipment as needed
• Move items weighing less than 100 lbs.
• Handle fragile or awkwardly-shaped items such as mirrors, electronic equipment, and artwork
• Use lifting equipment such as carts and dollies
• Follow company emergency procedures and assist others during emergencies

Requirements And Skills:

• Good driving record
• Knowledge of interstate and local driving laws
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and transport building materials
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
