MRI Technologist Job Description

An MRI technologist is the one who operates MRI machines, and is responsible for making sure that the patient is safe during the procedure.

MRI technologists perform routine duties like using MRI equipment, making patients comfortable, and monitoring the patient’s pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.

They are also responsible for patients’ safety during the exam.

MRI Technologist Duties:

• Performs ionizing radiation treatment procedures on patients, using diagnostic imaging equipment to provide diagnostic information
• Promotes use of procedures and equipment
• Sets up and operates diagnostic imaging equipment
• Records patient information
• Performs all duties in accordance with current standards of practice, policies and procedures, and hospital guidelines
• Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent customer service at all times
• Implements infection control procedures

MRI Technologist Responsibilities:

• Minimum of one-year experience in MRI
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependability and excellent work ethic
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong willingness to learn
• Ability to work flexible hours

Requirements And Skills:

• Perform MRI scans safely while operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment
• Complete patient intake, examination, and report forms
• Maintain safety standards, including proper use of safeguards, equipment, cleaning, procedures, and documentation
• Utilize reporting tools including PACS and EMR systems to send magnetic resonance images to specialists
• Perform other forms of imaging, such as CT or ultrasound
• Assist with office administration and billing functions
