Nurse Educator Job Description

Nurse educators are educators who teach nurses and their students.

They may also educate other healthcare professionals.

Nurse educators may work directly with students or may teach from a distance.

Teaching may take place in a traditional classroom setting, online or through webinars, or at the student’s workplace.

We’re looking for a Nurse Educator who is passionate about teaching and helping others learn. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing education and be able to provide evidence-based instruction to nursing students. Nurse Educator Duties

• Develop, coordinate, and oversee curriculum for nursing programs
• Develop curricula that meet the educational needs and goals of the students
• Develop and implement educational guidelines pertaining to curriculum for students, faculty, and staff
• Provide guidance and feedback to others to strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas

• Oversee the educational budget and/or manage the allocation of these funds
• Oversee the educational budget and/or manage the allocation of these funds
• Develop educational goals and objectives and oversee implementation of these objectives
• Provide leadership and mentorship to students
• Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols

Nurse Educator Responsibilities

• Implement programs for training nurses in patient care and nursing skills, and oversee nurses’ performance
• Train nurses through classroom training, clinicals, and simulation labs
• Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to nursing personnel
• Develop and revise training programs, curricula, and instructional materials
• Additional responsibilities may include collaborating with schools and community groups, conducting academic assessments, and reviewing student performance
• Develop and maintain computer applications, including e-learning, self-assessment, reports, and databases
• Participate in research, attend conferences, and present information on nursing developments
• Facilitate performance improvement activities
• Promote positive employee relations
• Resolve conflicts among nursing personnel
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Requirements and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• 3+ years experience in quality/education/training/administrative work
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent computer skills, including Word, Powerpoint, and Excel
