Pool Service Technician Job Description

A pool service technician, also known as a pool technician, is a person who handles the maintenance of swimming pools.

If a pool technician is not properly certified, he or she can face fines for improper maintenance, and he or she can also be sued as a result of improper maintenance.

A pool service technician will typically have a degree in a pool technology program, or will have a trade school certificate.

Pool Service Technician Duties:

• Maintain and repair swimming pools and related equipment
• Apply knowledge of chemistry, water treatment, and pool equipment necessary to maintain water in swimming pools and spas
• Maintain safe pool operations by following safety and proper chemical use procedures
• Recognize and troubleshoot pool equipment problems
• Maintains proper records according to company procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Pool Service Technician Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary contact for residential customers and handle all pool service incidents, including pool repair, equipment installation, and water quality issues
• Hire and manage seasonal staff
• Assist with equipment installations, pool maintenance, and repair
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly pool facility
• Perform pool opening and closing services
• Perform pool water chemistry analysis, including testing of pH, alkalinity, chlorine, and hardness
• Maintain and update departmental records
• Promote a positive work environment and company image

Requirements And Skills:

• Must have knowledge of pool service practices, procedures and chemicals
