Product Engineer Job Description

A product engineer is an individual responsible for designing and testing products.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Product Engineer to work on a variety of new and exciting products. As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of new products. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our products meet our high standards of quality. If you are a motivated individual with a passion for engineering, then we want to hear from you!

Product Engineer Duties:

• Develop new products and product features based on client feedback, industry trends, and company objectives
• Develop and maintain accurate, comprehensive product documentation
• Create, publish, and maintain product specifications and diagrams
• Perform laboratory experiments or evaluations
• Be the point of contact for technical support questions
• Create presentations, project summaries, and plans
• Assist with client training and presentations
• Other duties as assigned

Product Engineer Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze products created and sold by competitors, perform market research to identify and fill unmet needs, and develop technical solutions for new or improved products
• Work closely with product managers and other engineers in developing effective product specifications
• Design products using 2D and 3D CAD software, and collaborate with manufacturers to maintain product quality
• Provide input on cost, production schedule, and other important considerations
• Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation
• Research, design, develop, test, and qualify products
• Analyze customer and product feedback, and incorporate suggestions and improvements into product designs
• Coordinate work of outside engineering and design firms
• Develop and revise product specifications
• Oversee prototype manufacturing and testing
• Evaluate and approve production tooling plans
• Finalize product design specifications
• Direct product design teams
• Maintain and update engineering drawings, documentation

Requirements And Skills:

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager
• Must have 10+ years of deep embedded product engineering experience in embedded systems, wired and wireless communication
• Proven experience in hardware/software co-design, design validation, test engineering, hardware platform/architecture and systems engineering
