Production Technician Job Description

A production technician is an engineering or industrial professional responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting.

Examples of production technicians include machinists and welders.

Production technicians may also be referred to a manufacturing technician.

A production technician typically works with raw materials and/or finished products, and is responsible for ensuring the proper operation of the machinery and the tools used in manufacturing.

Additionally, the production technician is responsible for keeping records of all completed projects.

A production technician may also be responsible for producing parts, such as dies, molds, or jigs.

These pieces of equipment help production technicians produce parts more efficiently.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Production Technician who is able to operate and maintain production equipment, as well as troubleshoot any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a production environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Production Technician Duties:

• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment by making sure all equipment, tools, and construction materials are clean, sanitary, and in working order
• Maneuver machinery, equipment, and supplies according to company safety rules and guidelines
• Establish and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area
• Perform daily checks on equipment, tools, and materials
• Develop processes to improve organization efficiency
• Be proactive and resolve problems
• Assist with receiving and storing supplies
• Lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds
• Clean up spills and garbage

Production Technician Responsibilities:

• Understand, interpret, and apply various construction codes, standards, and regulations to ensure that work and products meet code requirements
• Assemble, install, or repair electrical systems, equipment, components, and systems, including low voltage
• Conduct preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical equipment
• Provide technical support during emergencies and shutdowns
• Perform quality control inspections
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

• High school diploma or GED
• EENR, EIT, or NATE certification
• Experience in HVAC and Solar energy systems
• Ability to perform mathematical computations
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schedules
• Ability to communicate effectively and concisely
