Quality Inspector Job Description

A quality inspector, also known as a quality engineer, quality auditor, or quality analyst, works to ensure that products meet the necessary standards.

These individuals monitor the status of products throughout their entire production process.

Quality inspectors are often required to examine products to ensure that they meet expectations.

These individuals also ensure that quality goals are met, and they verify that all products are safe and ready for selling or shipping.

Quality inspectors also support quality engineers and quality managers, and they often work in the manufacturing industry.

Quality Inspector Duties:

• Identify, evaluate, and quantify errors, defects, or flaws in products, machines, devices, or processes
• Check products against specified requirements
• Conduct quality control tests
• Provide accurate and timely documentation
• Follow and enforce company standards
• Record observations and test results

Quality Inspector Responsibilities:

• Verify that all work is in compliance with standards, specifications, and codes, using checklists and other tools
• Maintains on-the-job training program for new hires that include safety, quality, and productivity
• Interprets plans, specifications, and building codes
• Develops and maintains quality assurance and safety checklists and tests
• Documents and maintains quality control reports
• Attends client meetings, verifying work satisfies all specifications and codes

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
• 3+ years experience in project inspection
• Knowledge of building code requirements and construction methods
• Ability to inspect multiple construction phases and inspect multiple kinds of materials
• Ability to inspect products, equipment, and systems, as well as document defects
