Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Railroad Conductor who is responsible for operating a train and its associated equipment, as well as coordinating the activities of the train crew. The Railroad Conductor is also responsible for the safety of the passengers and crew.
Railroad Conductor Duties:
- Drive rail cars safely, following all applicable safety protocol
- Review, save, and maintain accurate records of work completed and any complaints received
- Attending safety meetings
- Perform routine maintenance on rail cars
- Provide emergency assistance to other cars and personnel if required
- Cooperate with other railroad employees
- Act as liaison with customers
- Maintain daily schedules and track and reporting log
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Railroad Conductor Responsibilities:
- Maintain safe operating conditions on the rail and road ways, compliance with all safety regulations and high standards, and adherence to all applicable railroads operating rules
- Plan, coordinate, and perform all aspects of road, rail, and intermodal transportation
- Attend coordination with construction and safety meetings; make regular trips to sites during construction including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks, and construction closeout
- Maintain and update SOW and preconstruction documents, and monitor contract obligations with a goal of building relationships with reliable contractors and vendors
- Plan and oversee loading and unloading operations
- Keep detailed records of transportation activities
- Insure that equipment and machinery are in good working order
- Assist in ensuring proper on-track loading, unloading, and switching of rail cars
- Maintain and oversee company-owned, leased, and hired equipment and machinery
Requirements And Skills:
- Valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement
- +3 years proven experience as a railroad conductor
- Ability to drive train cars loaded with hazardous materials
- Knowledge of federal regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials
