Job Brief:

We’re looking for a School Social Worker to work with students in grades K-12 who have a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral problems. The School Social Worker will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

School Social Worker Duties:

• Assists the school in providing for the overall needs of its students, including counseling, guidance, and developmental guidance
• Assists the school in assuring that all students have an opportunity to complete their educational goals
• Distinguishes between students’ academic and social needs
• Communicates with families to inform them of students’ needs
• Develops relationships with students, families, and other professional staff members
• Participates in decision-making meetings regarding students’ needs
• Provides students with instruction and supervision
• Assists in the development of school improvement plans and goals
• Helps students identify and reach their goals

School Social Worker Responsibilities:

• Provide student and families with appropriate services and resources, including crisis intervention, counseling, home-based services, and community-based services
• Manage referrals, follow students’ progress, and coordinate services with allied professionals
• Perform assessment, assessment planning, and evaluation tasks, including cost-benefit analyses, developing and recommending treatment plans, completing progress reviews, conducting team meetings, and collaborating with school staff
• Develop and implement new program initiatives
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, local policies, and procedures
• Enforce school policy, regulations, and procedures; recommend disciplinary actions
• Communicate with parents, guardians, and school personnel to maintain effective student-parent relationships

Requirements And Skills:

• Master’s degree in school social work
• Experience working with students in a school setting
