Security Consultant Job Description

A security consultant is an expert in security issues and can provide a variety of services relating to security at a business.

Security consultants can advise you on security plans, security issues, how to prevent data theft, how to screen new employees for security-related skills, how to protect your business from intruders, how to prevent workplace violence, how to train employees and managers to recognize threats, how to effectively monitor employees and visitors, and how to defend your business legally.

Many security consultants also train customers on how to manage security within their businesses.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Security Consultant who can help us improve our security posture. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting security audits, penetration testing, and incident response. They will also be able to provide recommendations on how to improve our security controls and procedures.

Security Consultant Duties:

• Manage the implementation of security policies and procedures
• Ensure that security policies and standards are met
• Identify opportunities for improving safety policies and procedures
• Develop and implement systems to reduce security incidents
• Ensure risk management activities are implemented
• Provide administrative and technical support to internal clients
• Maintain knowledge of laws and policies governing security
• Provide day-to-day security guidance to staff
• Coordinate and manage the security program to achieve departmental and company goals
• Develop, implement, and maintain security programs
• Develop new security measures and procedures
• Maintain accurate security records
• Monitor and review security installations
• Enforce security and safety policies
• Monitor, review, and evaluate contractor security
• Review and monitor policies and procedures
• Provide resolution of security issues

Security Consultant Responsibilities:

• Protect customers and assets from internal and external risks
• Protect premises, products, and services from theft and vandalism, and provide a safe and orderly environment
• Respond to security alarms and perform investigations
• Implement security policies and procedures
• Meet with company leadership to discuss security risks and report updates and recommendations
• Utilize security systems, including cameras, access control, and alarms
• Inform management of changes in threat or risk
• Report incidents to law enforcement and recommend additional security procedures

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience related to security work
• Highly motivated professional with excellent people skills, organizational ability, and analytical skill
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
