Job Brief:
We’re looking for a Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction estimating and project management.
Senior Estimator Duties:
- Directly oversee all estimates from project start to completion, including creating cost breakdowns, timelines, project budgets, and creating preliminary sketch plans
- Collaborate with project managers in developing conceptual plans and designs
- Develop blueprints, sketches, and improvement plans
- Oversee inspection, testing, and quality assurance procedures
- Understand current industry standards and practices
- Understand contract requirements
- Develop and present reports to management
Senior Estimator Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits to review project scope of work, develop estimates and proposal costs, identify risks, and recommend mitigation actions
- Prepare bid documents, which may include scopes of work, specifications, and diagrams
- Manage and track bids, including reviewing and evaluating bids to ensure they meet specifications
- Perform cost analysis, including verifying unit costs, determining total project cost, and estimating variance
- Track project progress, ensure payments are made on time, and reconcile financial activities
- Prepare reports and analysis, including tracking the progress of bids and cultivating relationships with clients
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements And Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience in estimating
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand building plans and specifications
- Capable of estimating a wide variety of building types
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Excellent math and computer skills
