Senior Systems Engineer Job Description

The senior systems engineer is the person who manages his/her own team and is responsible for the success of his/her team.

The senior systems engineer is most often involved with conceiving, designing, building, and managing large, highly concurrent, complex, distributed systems.

This role is typically accountable for the technical leadership, coordination, and success of the engineering team; leading design reviews; technical direction, planning, and estimation; and setting technical direction for engineering staff.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our company’s IT infrastructure. In this role, you will work closely with our IT team to ensure that our systems are running smoothly and efficiently. Senior Systems Engineer Duties:

• Develop and maintain software specifications, design, and implementation.
• Assist in defining product development requirements by conducting research, reviewing systems specifications, and analyzing operations.
• Perform assessment, testing, and implementation.
• Provide technical support to system users.
• Maintain documentation of project activities and results.
• Plan and manage project schedules.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking current and upcoming projects.
• Analyze and assess system capabilities, limitations, and requirements.
• Assist in providing recommendations based on systems assessments.
• Prepare and administer system quality assurance and acceptance tests.
• Provide user training sessions.
• Assist in resolving system issues.
• Conduct periodic follow-up with client it may be necessary to travel to client locations.
• May be asked to work overtime

Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

• Owns the systems design, implementation, testing, and operations of a production technology infrastructure
• Make recommendations on technology, processes, tools, and procedures
• Create a systems architecture in line with business objectives, business goals, and industry standards
• Design, implement, test, and certify systems to meet business requirements
• Maintain and continually improve operational and deployment performance of systems
• Coordinate all activities pertaining to hardware, software, systems administration, and database administration
• Develop, implement, maintain, and support various business processes and systems
• Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors
• Oversee system integration, documentation, and change management
• Provide leadership by working collaboratively, sharing ideas, and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Implement test plans for all systems components, and ensure all system components are tested prior to deployment

Requirements And Skills:

• Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain computer systems supporting software development
• Knowledge of relational databases and their use
• Ability to analyze and translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Knowledge of development methodologies and coding standards
• Knowledge of platform-specific development
• Experience in project management
